- Clinical Biochemistry and Enzymology: metabolic regulation, diagnostic biomarkers, enzymatic mechanisms and clinical biochemistry.
- Nutritional Biochemistry and Functional Foods: bioactive compounds, phytochemical profiling, pectin and vitamin therapeutics, and functional food development.
- Biotechnology and Molecular Biology: recombinant DNA technology, bioinorganic materials, structural biochemistry, and biosafety/biorisk management.
Peer Review
JBBI operates a single-blind peer review system. Every manuscript is evaluated by at least two external, independent expert reviewers. Authors are not informed of the reviewers' identities. Editorials are evaluated by the Editor-in-Chief, and letters to the editor by the Editorial Board.
Publication Frequency
JBBI is published annually, with rolling online ahead-of-print publication of accepted articles.
Plagiarism Policy
All submissions are checked with Turnitin. A maximum overall similarity index of 19% is permitted, with no more than 3–4% from any single source.
Article Processing Charges
JBBI does not charge any submission or article processing fees. Publication is free of charge for authors.
Open Access
All articles are freely available to read, download and share immediately upon publication under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).
Publication Ethics
JBBI follows the Core Practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Authors must submit original work, properly cite all sources, disclose conflicts of interest and funding, and obtain ethics approval and consent for studies involving humans or animals. Reviewers must keep manuscripts confidential and declare any conflicts of interest. Editors make decisions based only on the scientific merit of the work. Suspected misconduct, including plagiarism, data fabrication, duplicate submission or citation manipulation, will be investigated and may lead to rejection, correction or retraction.
Archiving and Self-Archiving
Authors may deposit the submitted version (preprint), accepted manuscript, and published version of their article in institutional or subject repositories and on personal websites, with a link to the published article in JBBI. Published content is preserved through the journal's archiving arrangements.
